Woodbridge: Remember to Vote Today!

I’m standing for re-election as Woodbridge County Councillor in the 2017 Suffolk County Council election

Today, May 4th, is the date of the local elections. You are voting to elect your county councillor. So, what qualities are you looking for?

A local candidate? One with years of experience? Someone with a track record of hard work, and practical activism? Someone who is prepared to fight your corner?

I am standing for election for a fourth term in the town I have made my home for the last 25 years. I’m the only county councillor in East Suffolk – maybe in Suffolk – to have been running a monthly open-access surgery for Suffolk residents since 2011. I’ve successfully fought for improvements to local services – and against cuts. I have upheld the voice of individual residents at all times and forcefully called the administration’s decision-making to account.

I can’t promise to solve every problem – but I can promise to listen, to support, and to do my very best to help you. I can also promise that if you re-elect me, I will continue to work indefatigably on your behalf.

It’s your town, it’s your vote, it’s your decision. I’m asking you to trust me to respect all of these things and to put your vote to best use by voting for me today.

Local elections in Suffolk today!

Slight catastrophe – but no unavailability

Caroline Page, County Councillor, Woodbridge

I’ve been out & about in Woodbridge  even more than usual, knocking on your doors, delivering letters, knocking in stakeboards, running stalls in the Thoroughfare and answering questions as much as I could in the run-up to this election -although sadly a close relative has been in v poor health and I’ve had to keep her with me most of the time, poor thing. O the unexpected and unfair perils of being related to a local politician!

Our Awareness-raising stall in Woodbridge Thoroughfare. Note the unsolicited testimonial behind my head…

On Bank Holiday Sunday she was bluelighted to hospital in dramatic circumstances. Huge thanks to first responders, the ambulance service and Ipswich hospital for ensuring it was nothing worse.

I’ll do my best but I may not be able to be on anyone’s doorstep before Thursday’s vote.

If so, do accept my apologies: these are circumstances beyond my control. I maintain that it is my role as a hands-on family carer that enables me to understand and represent so many local residents and issues.

You can – of course – contact me with any questions, concerns on caroline4woodbridge@aol.com

Sochi on the Deben

DSCF1878 (800x643)For once, the weather was kind – and ferocious winds and driving rain cleared up in time for full enjoyment to be gained from the weekend’s free skating rink in the Brook Street carpark, Woodbridge.

Let’s hope that the weather will continue as good tomorrow for the second day.

This last year has been hard for a lot of people – and most of all for families – and the expense of taking your children on a day out can be prohibitive. This event – brainchild of Town Councillor Caroline Blois, and funded by me from my Locality Budget – was intended to give some affordable fun to the young people of Woodbridge and their parents, while also bringing increased footfall into Woodbridge town centre in the dark days of winter.

Today certainly seemed to do this.

To top it all, the refreshments on offer were provided by Woodbridge’s very own Cake Shop Bakery, who only yesterday were crowned Britain’s Best Bakery.

Eat your heart out, Winter Olympics!
