I’m standing for re-election in Woodbridge

The stakeboards up around Woodbridge may possibly have given this away, but just to announce formally, I’m standing for re-election as County Councillor for Woodbridge, Suffolk – the best place to live in the East of England (and that’s official, though we knew it already).

This is the 5th time I’m standing: I’ve been elected County Councillor for Woodbridge in 2008, 2009, 2013 & 2017.

Published & promoted by Patrick Gillard on behalf of Caroline Page, LibDems, both at 117 Ipswich Rd Woodbridge IP12 4BY

What qualities do you want in your County Councillor?

thumbnail of 1704 Suffolk Woodbridge v3 So, what qualities are you looking for when you elect a County Councillor?

A local candidate? One with years of experience?  Someone with a track record of hard work, and practical activism? Someone who is prepared to fight your corner?

I am standing for election for a fourth term in the town I have made my home for the last 25 years. I’m the only county councillor in East Suffolk – maybe in Suffolk – to have run a monthly open access surgery for Suffolk residents since 2011. I’ve successfully fought for improvements for – and against cuts to –  local services. I have upheld the voice of individual residents at all times and forcefully called the administration’s decision-making to account.

If you re-elect me, I will continue to do this on your behalf

DSCF1878 (800x643)For once, the weather was kind – and ferocious winds and driving rain cleared up in time for full enjoyment to be gained from the weekend’s free skating rink in the Brook Street carpark, Woodbridge.

Let’s hope that the weather will continue as good tomorrow for the second day.

This last year has been hard for a lot of people – and most of all for families – and the expense of taking your children on a day out can be prohibitive. This event – brainchild of Town Councillor Caroline Blois, and funded by me from my Locality Budget – was intended to give some affordable fun to the young people of Woodbridge and their parents, while also bringing increased footfall into Woodbridge town centre in the dark days of winter.

Today certainly seemed to do this.

To top it all, the refreshments on offer were provided by Woodbridge’s very own Cake Shop Bakery, who only yesterday were crowned Britain’s Best Bakery.

Eat your heart out, Winter Olympics!
