At every full council meeting elected members have the opportunity to put questions to the Cabinet members at Suffolk County Council. I am asking the following:
Caroline Page to Cabinet Member for Roads and Transport (Graham Newman)
Public transport is an essential part of supporting the future welfare of the county – particularly in rural areas. And yet it is coming under increasing pressure and failing to meet needs just at the time Suffolk needs it most.
I would like to ask the Cabinet member when he is going to press national government to alter the ridiculous ethos of so-called competition which has caused deregulated buses to provide such a terrible service to the people of the Suffolk countryside over the last decades

SUFFOLK TRANSPORT STRATEGY 2011-2031 Part 2 Implementation
I have just read the above document. It is in my view meaningless. It refers to Short Tem , Medium Term & Long term Projects yet does not define timescales for them. For the short term measures I would expect to see proper timescales and budgets yet there are none. On page 5 & 6 it has a whole list of short term projects but has no budget for them. How can you have projects in the implementation phase and short term without any funding.? Who wrote this document?
They mention a Western By-pass for Sudbury but then state there is no funding so how exactly are they intending to implement it?
The document needs a total re write. It is useless as it is
It should as we3ll in the implementation in my view break things out into Section so Roads, Cycling, Bus, Rail, Walking
For the short tem measures each item should have a budget and timescales. If they do not have them then it has no business being in the implementation section
